Breyer® Thunder, Denver Broncos Team Mascot
Team mascots have a challenging and unique job! They must enjoy people and love performing as well as remaining calm in situations that would normally frighten most horses, such as being in football stadiums with thousands of cheering fans, exploding pyrotechnics, pom-pom waving cheerleaders and other spectacles common to NFL games.
Since 1993, the NFL’s Denver Broncos Team Mascot has been a grey Arabian horse named Thunder. Thunder's gameday duties include leading the team through a tunnel and onto the field and galloping down the length of the field after every touch down or field goal. He also appears in parades, makes hospital and school visits as well as appearing at other public events. Thunder and his rider also interact with fans before the game and he is particularly popular with children, who are allowed to pet him.
Three different Arabian horses have played Thunder over the years. The current Thunder is Me n' My Shadow, a 19-year-old gelding who made his debut at Superbowl XLVIII.
