Breyer® Horses

Beautiful coloring, winning personalities and lots and lots of fabulous hair are just the a few things about the Gypsy Vanner breed that will capture your heart!

Originating in Ireland, Gypsy Vanners were bred by the Irish Traveller and Romani travelling peoples to pull the vardos in which they lived. Resembling a small draft horse, Gypsy Vanners typically have heavy feathering on their legs along with lush manes and tails.  They can come in many colors and patterns, including piebald (black and white tobiano), skewbald (combinations of brown, red and white including tri-colored tobiano), and blagdon (solid color with white splashed up from underneath).

The very first Gypsy Vanners were imported to the United States in 1996, and today this sturdy and intelligent breed is gaining in popularity. They are still used for driving, in addition to being enjoyed as riding mounts.  In 2004 the US Dressage Federation accepted the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society as an affiliate member, thus allowing horses registered with the GVHS to compete in it's dressage and dressage related events.   In 2008 the Gypsy Horse Association was accepted into the USDF program.
